I have been playing piano since I was 5 years old. I have always loved music, but I really fell in love with the "Classical" genre at 12 years old. When I later discovered how much I love teaching, it was easy to pick my career path!
I have been teaching beginner to advanced piano since 2004. My passions include: helping students discover the piano for the first time (ages 3 and up), preparing students for RCM exams, unlocking a student's creative side through composition, and teaching how to improvise over chord progressions so students can play with Christian or rock bands!
I graduated from Brandon University in Manitoba in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and received a gold medal for "greatest distinction" in academic achievement. I enjoyed studying Piano, Composition, Conducting, and Percussion. Since then, I have been teaching Piano sucessfully in both BC and Alberta. I have 3 young children, and I believe having my own children has helped me understand better how to teach young beginners.
